Dear Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well and looking forward to the coming year.
Like almost all Japanese, the first half of 2011 left my body and soul in tatters, but in the second half of the year, the healing had begun - my spirits began to lift and I am now facing the future with renewed vitality.
My personal turnaround came on July 9 in Paris. Thanks to the success of that concert at the Salle Gaveau concert hall, I now have plans to hold two concerts in Paris next year in 2012.
The first is scheduled for April 27 (Friday), 2012, at Châtelet Théâtre Musical de Paris. I am looking forward to standing on the stage of that hall, which boasts both a history as impressive as the Salle Gaveau and beautiful, classic architecture.
The second concert will be in December 2012 in a suburb of Paris, followed by concerts in Morocco and Vienna in 2013.
I have already uploaded videos of the Paris Concert held on July 9th of this year on my website, Facebook and Youtube. I hope that you will enjoy them and share them with your friends.
As much as I am able, I shall continue to support the promotion of Japan-China friendship – a mission to which I have devoted many years. However, China is witnessing the spread of mammonism – a phase that other countries have experienced in the course of their development. Regrettably I find myself totally at a loss when coming to grips with the many happenings and circumstances that have arisen from this phenomenon. Consequently, I have decided to put myself back on the path of “Naoko Matsui the Soprano” and re-dedicate my full efforts towards my true mission in life.
I have no plans to perform in Japan for the foreseeable future, and I apologize to my Japanese fans, who have continued to provide me with their warm encouragement and support. In light of recent circumstances in Japan, there are numerous challenges that make holding an event in Japan rather difficult, and I ask for your understanding of my decision.
As the curtain falls on another year and you rush to match the pace of the hustle and bustle of the dwindling days of 2011, I hope that you will take extra special care. My heartfelt wishes to one and all for the happiest of New Year holidays! See you in 2012!
Naoko Matsui
